Size and Fit Guide for Custom Garments
A practical guide for planning custom garment sizes, variants, fit samples, and approval-ready specs before suppliers quote.
Choose teamwear sizes from the measurements and fit of the specific garment being ordered. A familiar S, M or L label from another brand is not enough to approve a new size run.
Distinguish body measurements from garment measurements
A body-measurement chart describes the wearer. A garment-measurement chart describes the finished item, sometimes measured flat. Check which chart you have before comparing numbers. A flat chest width and a chest circumference are different measurements and cannot be compared directly.
Make the measurement method repeatable
Ask for the product’s measurement diagram and record the units, measurement points and whether the fabric should be relaxed or stretched. Use the same method for every sample. Do not invent a manufacturing tolerance: ask what tolerance applies to the quoted product and which measurements it covers.

Approve a sample and then the size allocation
Where available, use a sample or size set for fitting before collecting final selections. Check movement and layering in conditions relevant to the sport or workplace. Note issues against the exact product and size rather than recording a general “fits well” comment.
Personalization can make corrections more involved, so verify the roster’s sizes, names and numbers together. A 3D preview helps review artwork placement; it does not confirm physical fit, comfort or fabric behavior.
